The Direct Vision Standard applies to HGVs over 12 tonnes gross vehicle weight that enter or operate in Greater London. A valid HGV Safety Permit is required unless an exemption applies.
Vehicles rated three stars or above can apply for a permit without fitting the Progressive Safe System. Vehicles rated zero, one or two stars, or vehicles that are unrated, must meet the current Progressive Safe System requirements before a permit can be granted.
