Purpose
Primary – To ensure that the driver of any vehicle fitted with Parksafe+ is warned if the vehicle is UNSAFE before leaving it unattended.
In Addition – An external announcement can warn other operatives and members of the public that the vehicle is UNSAFE.
In cab devices (Radio) are muted during key vehicle manoeuvres
Description
A voice synthesized handbrake warning device that sounds a verbal warning when the handbrake has not been correctly applied and the driver attempts to exit the vehicle. This announcement can be both internal and external to the cab. In addition the system will also mute the radio when the driver’s door is opened and when reverse gear is selected. This functionality helps to promote ‘City Quiet’ compliance and generally reduces noise pollution when exiting the vehicle. It also ensures that whilst the driver is carrying out one of their most hazardous manoeuvres, reversing, any external instruction or warning can be clearly heard inside the cab.
Operation
The system will not interfere with the day to day operation of the vehicle if the park brake is used correctly.
If the driver attempts to leave the vehicle before applying the handbrake, regardless of the ignition state, the system will REPEATEDLY announce the following message
‘Warning Park Brake Not Applied’
The vehicle radio will be muted to ensure the instruction is heard.
At this point the driver must apply the handbrake fully to cancel the warning.
Simply closing the drivers door WILL NOT CANCEL THE SYSTEM, the vehicle must be made safe by fully applying the handbrake
The radio will also mute when in reverse and/or the drivers door is opened
*Parksafe can also be used to control the operation of mobile phone and ancillary equipment by only allowing the use of these devices when the park brake is correctly applied. An additional interface is usually required.*
